DrayTek’s U.A.E Roadshow

Kicking off on the 25th June, a United Arab Emirates Roadshow of DrayTek products coordinated by DVCom Technology opened at Dubai Flora Creek Hotel, Dubai.  The Roadshow was organised for local resellers and System Integrators to demonstrate DrayTek’s full range of products, and highlight some of their latest solutions to attendees including:

1. VigorFly 200, the Wireless broadband router with 3G/4G and WIFI connection for the SoHo;
2. VigorAP 800, the feature rich 802.11n WMM Access Point for Small Office/SMB;
3. Vigor 2820n, the dual WAN VPN Firewall Appliance for SMB;
4. VigorIPPBX 3510, an Cost-Efficient IP PBX, central firewall and VPN gateway for multi-site offices and tele-workers for SMB;
5. IP Telephony ATA/Gateway: VigorTalk ATA 24/Short Haul & Vigor 3300V Plus
After presentations, attendees had time to share their DrayTek experiences with one another. Amongst others heard that day were the success stories of the implementation of Vigor2820n‘s in the networks of Sharjah Water and Electricity (SEWA) and Sharjah Police Academy, demonstrating the capacity and reliability of the unit to support even government agencies.
Feedback received was overwhelmingly positive for DrayTek’s flagship Vigor2820n model for its ‘VPN stability, VLAN, exceptional routing capabilities, high WIFI speeds distinguished the router from competition’. The local System Integrators and resellers also favoured DrayTek products over others for the ‘durability of the routers to with stand high temperatures, having lots of installations in remote desert locations in UAE’, which makes sense.
We found some footage of the Roadshow on YouTube posted by our friends in Dubai of the event, so here they are in action:
Good work DVCom Technology!

DrayTek does Bangkok

We reported last month that DrayTek was to participate in Secutech Thailand 2011, which ran from the 30th June to the 2nd of July, with a booth manned by our Thai counterparts. Well it happened, and they did. And here are the pictures show prove it!

Choosing Your DrayTek Router

I thought I might provide you guys with a little overview on how to choose your DrayTek router. Our range is comprehensive with something there for everyone but sometimes it can be a bit daunting deciding which router is the best for what you need.

For starters, here are some key features you should consider in your selection. You will need to have a think about what sort of network you wish to build and what sort of measures you need to keep it protected. So,

  • ADSL or Broadband?
  • 3G Mobile Broadband support
  • VoIP
  • Wireless LAN
  • VPN/SSL VPN – if so, how many tunnels?
  • Bandwidth management ie. Load-balancing or backup
  • QoS (a must-have for you gamers)
  • Firewall
  • CSM (Content Security Management)
  • Anti-Virus/Anti-SPAM

DrayTek has several different types of routers on offer:

  1. ADSL Routers - built-in ADSL interface and support for ADSL 2+
  2. Broadband Routers – single Ethernet WAN interface
  3. Dual WAN Routers – 2 Ethernet WAN ports
  4. Dual WAN SSL VPN Routers – 2 Ethernet WAN ports with SSL (Secure Socket Layer) VPN for web-based remote connections
  5. Multi-WAN Security Routers – 4 Ethernet WAN ports
  6. Mobile Broadband Router – 802.11n wireless standard with single WAN Ethernet port
  7. G.SHDSL Security Router – solution for Symmetrical DSL
  8. Unified Threat Management Security – Dual WAN with complete anti-virus, anti intrusion, anti SPAM security
  9. IPPBX Solutions – VPN router with IPPBX capabilities

Depending on the size of your network, your requirements might be more on the simpler side, in which case you’d be better off with a more basic model rather than going all out on a high-tech monster of a router with functionalities you won’t ever use.  To help you determine which router best suits your requirements, check out our Product Feature Matrix. It has been designed to make it easier for you to see and compare the features across our entire range of routers.

As a general guide, the model names will denote which series the router is a part of, and whether it has wireless (represented by the letter ‘n’) and/or VoIP (represented by the letter ‘V’) capabilities. For example, Vigor2710n is a part of the Vigor2710 ADSL2+ router series and has wireless ‘n’, but no VoIP.

If you want to see what some of our routers are capable of and how user-friendly they are, check out our handy live web demos which will give you an inside view of the web configuration menus. We also have plenty of independent product reviews and awards, as you may well know, which can give you a good indication of what people think of our routers.

If you still need help with your decision, contact one of helpful resellers to discuss your requirements. Good Luck and Happy Routing!

New Firmware Out For VigorIPPBX 3510

DrayTek Global’s techies are always working to make DrayTek products as technically awesome as possible through regular firmware updates. Most recently is the latest firmware update Version 3.5.5.3 for one of our leading IP PBX solutions, VigorIPPBX 3510. With this update, the Dual-WAN broadband router with IP PBX system’s telephony functionalities have especially received a boost, with the ability to add remote extensions to the Access Control List. Another handy addition is the ability for incoming DDI callers to bypass the IP PBX Auto Attendant by entering the required extension rather than having to wait for the prompts.

On top of this, minor SIP Trunk and Hunt Grouping issues have been smoothed out. On the router side of things, VPN stability has been enhanced to ensure VPN holds steady in less than ideal network conditions.

The VigorIPPBX 3510 series serves as an IP PBX, central firewall and VPN gateway for multi-site offices and tele-workers. With its rich-featured IP PBX and the optional FXO/FXS/ISDN TE/ISDN NT interface card, the device increases the utilization of IP for the multi-site business operations. The robust firewall and up to 32 simultaneous VPN tunnels help you gain competitive advantages and strengthen productivity.
