Firmware Update for Vigor2750 series!

Vigor2750 series VDSL2 router is the latest to get a bit of a firmware revamp with Version 1.5.1.

Security has been boosted hugely in this firmware update with the additions of Firewall traffic control, URL Content Filter and IM/P2P Filter controls, Web Content Filter (powered by Commtouch), and Application Enforcement. In terms of wireless security, wireless isolation has been added, which makes your PC’s SSID (Service Set Identifier) invisible on a wireless network to prevent other wireless users from accessing your information and hacking into your network.

Some improvements have been made with the inclusion of VDSL Point-to-Point application (CO mode) and VDSL bridge mode, making higher bandwidth leased-line application and LAN-to-LAN connectivity easy to achieve.

Other exciting additions: a second subnet for routing usage, WAN IP Alias setting, NTP synchronisation interval setting, and the number of NAT sessions has been increased to a very sizable 30,000 sessions.

And very, very important is the addition of a File Explorer for USB disks. So not only can users use 3G broadband via the Vigor2750, but they will also be able to access USB storage through the File Explorer.

The Vigor2750 series is for those on the new generation VDSL2 (Very-high-speed Digital Subscriber Line 2) infrastructure, the cost-efficient choice for upgrading existing xDSL-infrastructure when the Next Generation Network (NGN) is deployed. Vigor2750 series features a one VDSL2 WAN interface with a 4 Gigabit LAN switch to ensure optimal data and voice packet transmission to client devices for bandwidth-intensive applications, such as high-definition video streaming, online gaming, and Internet telephony. In addition, Vigor2750 series routers are future-proof devices, compliant with official IPv6-ready (Internet Protocol version 6) certification. With this compliancy, users don’t need to worry about running out of current IPv4 addresses due to rapid IPv4 address exhaustion.

Vigor2910 Series Version 3.2.5.2 Out Now

HUGE improvements for Vigor2910 series are available for download now through firmware update Version 3.2.5.2.

One significant new addition is support for VoIP calling via VPN. Running VoIP over VPN has a number of benefits including greater privacy and security in your VoIP usage, greater flexibility of your communication infrastructure, and of course, added convenience for remote network users.

Also, the list of compatible 3G modems for the Vigor2910 series continues to grow, with Huawei E173, Nokia CS11/CS12, Alcatel X200L, ZTE MF110/MF190/K3571-Z joining the party. Parameters have been added for wireless connection for TR-069, and Safari can now be used to gain access to the configuration menu.

Some bugs have also been extinguished in this update including PPPoE connection issues with some ISP’s, and the problem of configuration backup causing system crashes for TR-069.

Vigor2910 series Dual-WAN router is equipped with 1 WAN port and 4 LAN ports. The first LAN port, P1, can be configured to also become a second WAN port. In Dual-WAN mode, it supports either policy-bases Load-Balancing between the two WANs, or Failover which means in the event a WAN fails, the second WAN takes over. Advanced features include secure network management (Firewall & CSM), bandwidth management (QoS, Session Limitation & Bandwidth Control), remote data access (VPN), wireless data communication (IEEE 802.11g standard WLAN), low cost telephone traffic (VoIP), etc., making this router ideal for broadband access for SOHO and business users. Vigor2910 series comprises of Vigor2910VG, Vigor2910G, and Vigor2910.

Vigor2910 series has been superseded by Vigor2920/2930 series and is no longer available from DrayTek Australia. However, this firmware update will no doubt be fantastic news for those who already own one. The firmware update can be downloaded from here.

Big Improvements for Vigor2920 With Latest Firmware Update

Yes, it’s another firmware update story… but expect plenty more because those clever engineers at DrayTek are always working to enhance product functionality and keep existing units as up-to-date as possible.  DrayTek Vigor2920 Version 3.3.7 firmware has recently been deployed with some very significant improvements for the Dual WAN broadband router series.

Firstly, there is the VPN Backup for VPN TRUNK Management. This mechanism allows users to set multiple VPN tunnels as backup tunnels. In the event of failure of one tunnel, VPN backup can automatically connect another tunnel to the remote VPN server, so you will never have to worry about your VPN dropping out. The VPN backup feature also applies to all VPN types – PPTP, L2TP, L2TP over IPSec, Gre over IPSec or IPSec.

Also with Version 3.3.7, Vigor2920 series now supports multiple subnets. The significance of this is that through creating multiple subnets for different departments, it will allow users to allocate network functions and resources between workgroups more easily. Administrators will now have greater control than ever to plan, manage, and monitor network usage to ensure an efficient and secure network.

And as I reported in my last post, owing to this latest firmware update, Vigor2920 series is now backed by DrayTek’s Smart Monitor (Windows and Linux compatible) traffic monitoring software. From logging network issues to recording email or IM chat exchanges via the router, Smart Monitor will effectively capture and analyse important network information, and present its findings to Network Administrators via an interface that is easy to interpret and enables Administrators to quickly seek out specific information to identify areas of inefficiency. Smart Monitor can oversee after up to 30 users on the Vigor2920 series.

These few improvements are among many with this firmware update. For more information on firmware update Version 3.3.7 for Vigor2920 series, you can download the release notes here. For an inside look of this latest version, try out the live web demo.

The Vigor2920 is a Dual WAN broadband router with one Ethernet WAN and one Gigabit WAN port to connect to DSL/Cable/VDSL2 modem or Ethernet FTTx device (up to 150 Mbps), with support for Load Balance and Fail-Over across both WANs. Its advanced features include secure network management (Firewall & CSM), bandwidth management (QoS, Session Limitation & Bandwidth Control), remote data access (VPN), making this router ideal for SOHO and business users.

Firmware Updates All Round!

That’s right folks, DrayTek has gone Firmware bonkers! Well, no not really, but they sure have been very productive this month with their firmware development. With VigorAP 800 firmware version 1.0.3, they have added a very cool Auto Detection feature which enables the Access Point to automatically be detected by master devices (router list to be released soon), allowing you to skip several steps in the setup process of your VigorAP 800. For example, if you were to hook up your VigorAP 800 with a Vigor2920 series V.3.3.7 router, the AP800 would automatically be picked up by the Vigor2920. FURTHERMORE, the 2920’s web configuration menu will automatically provide an additional setup section, ‘External Devices’, for the AP 800. Also with that firmware update are the additions of an SSID selection feature on the AP Discovery Wizard and of the Mixed (11g+11n) mode for wireless.

Vigor2710e and Vigor2710ne are two of the more basic DrayTek ADSL2/2+ routers. Even so, these streamlined routers include all your basic necessities, plus just that little bit extra to impress. Still, there were some of you out there asking  for more from Vigor2710e and finally your routing prayers have been answered. DrayTek has just released the latest firmware for Vigor2710e series which allows for a second subnet to IP Routing Usage!

Previously, the Vigor 2710e only allowed for one subnet:

With this latest firmware update, the same page of the very user-friendly web configuration will look like this:

This means that users can now sign up a block of public (WAN) IPs with their ISP and reserve those public IPs for specific purposes such as a Web server or Mail server. You could even assign the public IP as a IP surveillance camera for home security.

This feature has been available on the Vigor2710Vigor2820 series and our other higher-end products, and now it is finally available on the Vigor2710e series.

The Vigor2710e is an ADSL2+ router that supports up to 24 Mbps (downstream) / 2.5 Mbps (upstream) ADSL speeds. Networked devices such as computers can share the Internet and communicate with each other through the built-in LAN switch. The Vigor2710e is designed with object-based SPI (Stateful Packet Inspection) firewall to detect malicious packets, such as Denial of Service (DoS) attacks, and prevent these from jeopardizing the internal home or office network thus ensuring upmost network security and reliability.

New Firmware Out For VigorIPPBX 3510

DrayTek Global’s techies are always working to make DrayTek products as technically awesome as possible through regular firmware updates. Most recently is the latest firmware update Version 3.5.5.3 for one of our leading IP PBX solutions, VigorIPPBX 3510. With this update, the Dual-WAN broadband router with IP PBX system’s telephony functionalities have especially received a boost, with the ability to add remote extensions to the Access Control List. Another handy addition is the ability for incoming DDI callers to bypass the IP PBX Auto Attendant by entering the required extension rather than having to wait for the prompts.

On top of this, minor SIP Trunk and Hunt Grouping issues have been smoothed out. On the router side of things, VPN stability has been enhanced to ensure VPN holds steady in less than ideal network conditions.

The VigorIPPBX 3510 series serves as an IP PBX, central firewall and VPN gateway for multi-site offices and tele-workers. With its rich-featured IP PBX and the optional FXO/FXS/ISDN TE/ISDN NT interface card, the device increases the utilization of IP for the multi-site business operations. The robust firewall and up to 32 simultaneous VPN tunnels help you gain competitive advantages and strengthen productivity.

Vigor2130 Series As Good As It Gets

DrayTek’s Vigor2130 series has been given a huge boost by its latest firmware upgrade, Version 1.5.1, making it faster and more secure than ever. The powerful high-speed Dual-WAN router, which is still relatively fresh in the market, has already received much acclaim particularly for its speed and reliability.

This latest firmware upgrade equips the broadband router series with many useful additional security features including a comprehensive yet flexible Web Content Filter (powered by Commtouch). The Web Content Filter effectively allows you to design a content filter for your network based on categories of material you wish block. There are filter options there for parents including ‘Nudity’ and ‘Illegal-Drug’, as well as options for businesses out there to keep your workers away from things like ‘Streaming-Media-And-Downloads’, or ‘ Job-Search’.

Along the same lines, the firmware upgrade also now offers Application Enforcement for added control over which applications (from IM to P2P applications) are utilised within the network.

Another notable new security feature offered by the latest firmware is that of wireless isolation, which makes your PC’s SSID (Service Set Identifier)  invisible on a wireless network  to protect other wireless users from accessing your information and hacking into your network.

The firmware also increases the number of NAT sessions to 30,000 which optimises the ‘data pipeline’ to support multiple concurrent data transfers. This basically means you can do more without sacrificing performance.

With Version 1.5.1, the USB functionalities of Vigor2130 series are vastly improved with greater 3G device compatibility, added backup for 56k USB modems, and a new file explorer for USB disk drives (below).

The Vigor2130 series is a perfect choice for those of you who are getting NBN ready for fiber based connections. With extremely high speeds for downstream for fast media streaming, IEEE 802.11n Wireless network (n models) and cost effective VoIP (V model), the Vigor2130 series has something to offer all home and SOHO users. This may just be the best End of Financial Year purchase you will ever make.

For those of you who already have one, getya upgrade from here. For those of you who don’t have one (tsk tsk), have a browse of its features on our Live web demo and check it out for yourself.
