Introducing DrayTek VigorIPPBX 2820 Video

DrayTube presents the VigorIPPBX 2820 VoIP IP PBX with Dual-WAN ADSL2/2+ Router.

IPv6 on DrayOS preview

In the past, many users have speculated if it would be possible for devices running on the DrayOS to support IPv6, and rumors are found everywhere. We are pleased to report that DrayTek has finally found a breakthrough solution for IPv6 on the DrayOS.

Last week, we received a test unit VDSL/ADSL Router – Vigor2850Vn and we quickly connected it with our Internode IPv6 ADSL. The test results are shown below:

IPv6 on System Status page

After we successfully configured the ADSL settings, the Vigor2850Vn obtained both IPv4 and IPv6 public IP.

IPv6 Test result

IPv6 is already enabled under Windows 7s default settings, so when we connect our PC to Vigor2850, we automatically obtain both IPv6 and IPv4. Below is the test result from http://ipv6-test.com/ and the IP address information from the command prompt window.

IPv6 Content Test result

We tested this with a website that is hosted under IPv6, ipv6.google.com. Below is our test result page.

It seems like not every solution will be available by the next firmware release, e.g., how to set up site-to-site VPN via IPv6, or how the router handles VoIP point to point via IPv6. With this current beta firmware we haven’t seen any relevant interfaces changes on the VPN and VoIP pages of the web configuration menu, but we are still very happy with the result we have achieved today.

What about other routers running on the DrayOS? Will Vigor2830/2920/2820 support IPv6? At this stage we still don’t know which other model will be the next to support IPv6 but be assured, that DrayTek will migrate this feature to some of the existing models soon.

In the next few months we will release more information about how to set up IPv6 and feature some highlights of Vigor2850.

Firmware Updates All Round!

That’s right folks, DrayTek has gone Firmware bonkers! Well, no not really, but they sure have been very productive this month with their firmware development. With VigorAP 800 firmware version 1.0.3, they have added a very cool Auto Detection feature which enables the Access Point to automatically be detected by master devices (router list to be released soon), allowing you to skip several steps in the setup process of your VigorAP 800. For example, if you were to hook up your VigorAP 800 with a Vigor2920 series V.3.3.7 router, the AP800 would automatically be picked up by the Vigor2920. FURTHERMORE, the 2920’s web configuration menu will automatically provide an additional setup section, ‘External Devices’, for the AP 800. Also with that firmware update are the additions of an SSID selection feature on the AP Discovery Wizard and of the Mixed (11g+11n) mode for wireless.

VigorAP 800

DrayTek’s VigorAP 800 is a PoE enabled wireless access point which you hook up to your router to either add wireless connectivity to your existing LAN or to boost/extend your home or office wireless network. In effect, it acts as a central transmitting device which optimises traffic flow using WMM (Wi-Fi Multimedia) technology to define Quality of Service in the wireless network.

Meanwhile, Version 1.5.1.1 of Vigor2130 brings an IPv6 ping trace router, as well as further support for debug messages sent from the router’s Syslog Utility to help with the daily administration networks.

Get ‘em while they’re hot!

3G Modem Support List Just Keeps Growing

This time around, many Huawei 3G USB modem users are welcoming the latest addition of the Huawei E160E to the already extensive list of  compatible 3G modems.

The beauty of having the 3G mobile broadband support feature in DrayTek routers is that you can set it up as an additional internet source for load-balancing or backup purposes.

Vigor2830Vn – Killer Product Says PC Mag Greece

DrayTek’s Vigor2830Vn ADSL2/2+ router has recently earned DrayTek another notch on its belt. In the July 2011 of PC Magazine Greece, the Vigor2830Vn was deemed a ‘Killer Product’ in an editor’s review. They especially loved its abundance of features, Gigabit interfaces, 3G USB support and wireless ‘n’ functions.

Here is a translated excerpt of the article:

“DrayTek is a manufacturer of networking solutions with great experience and also a wide range of products. Vigor2830Vn ADSL modem/router is equipped with plenty of features, which make it fully capable to meet the needs of even high demanding business environments. The first interesting feature to notice is that all its four Ethernet ports are Gigabit. Furthermore, you will find one WAN port, available for connection with a second network, which is also Gigabit. Nevertheless, to keep you constantly “online”, Vigor2830Vn integrates a USB port where you can connect any 3G USB modem that can offer access to the 3G network and then to the Internet. One of its sophisticated characteristics is that Vigor2830Vn provides the user with the ability to realize up to three simultaneous WAN connections, something which will be greatly appreciated by many network administrators. Moreover, it supports the impressive number of 50,000 NAT sessions, when the preceding model (Vigor 2820Vn) supports up to 15,000 NAT sessions. Vigor 2830Vn is also a powerful, wireless-N compatible router. It integrates three antennas, while on its front display you will find a double-function switch, which is used to activate and de-activate the Wi-Fi option, but also to initiate the WPS procedure for ensuring easy clients’ connection. Last but not least, its integrated management software allows you to define Internet access policies based on login & limits – either time or access restrictive – for specific sites.”

 With the latest Vigor2830 series, DrayTek has taken their proven recipe for the award-winning Vigor2820 series and taken it to a whole new level. The highly-refined Vigor2830 series comprising of Vigor2830, Vigor2830n (wireless) and Vigor2830Vn (wireless and VoIP), is embedded with one ADSL2/2+ WAN port, one Gigabit Ethernet WAN port and one USB port for 3.5G USB modem.

New Firmware 3.2.6.1 for Vigor2710e Series

Vigor2710e and Vigor2710ne are two of the more basic DrayTek ADSL2/2+ routers. Even so, these streamlined routers include all your basic necessities, plus just that little bit extra to impress. Still, there were some of you out there asking  for more from Vigor2710e and finally your routing prayers have been answered. DrayTek has just released the latest firmware for Vigor2710e series which allows for a second subnet to IP Routing Usage!

Previously, the Vigor 2710e only allowed for one subnet:

With this latest firmware update, the same page of the very user-friendly web configuration will look like this:

This means that users can now sign up a block of public (WAN) IPs with their ISP and reserve those public IPs for specific purposes such as a Web server or Mail server. You could even assign the public IP as a IP surveillance camera for home security.

This feature has been available on the Vigor2710Vigor2820 series and our other higher-end products, and now it is finally available on the Vigor2710e series.

The Vigor2710e is an ADSL2+ router that supports up to 24 Mbps (downstream) / 2.5 Mbps (upstream) ADSL speeds. Networked devices such as computers can share the Internet and communicate with each other through the built-in LAN switch. The Vigor2710e is designed with object-based SPI (Stateful Packet Inspection) firewall to detect malicious packets, such as Denial of Service (DoS) attacks, and prevent these from jeopardizing the internal home or office network thus ensuring upmost network security and reliability.

For more information on the second subnet feature, read here. For more information on the Vigor2710e, visit our website or check out the live web demo.

DrayTek’s U.A.E Roadshow

Kicking off on the 25th June, a United Arab Emirates Roadshow of DrayTek products coordinated by DVCom Technology opened at Dubai Flora Creek Hotel, Dubai.  The Roadshow was organised for local resellers and System Integrators to demonstrate DrayTek’s full range of products, and highlight some of their latest solutions to attendees including:

1. VigorFly 200, the Wireless broadband router with 3G/4G and WIFI connection for the SoHo;
2. VigorAP 800, the feature rich 802.11n WMM Access Point for Small Office/SMB;
3. Vigor 2820n, the dual WAN VPN Firewall Appliance for SMB;
4. VigorIPPBX 3510, an Cost-Efficient IP PBX, central firewall and VPN gateway for multi-site offices and tele-workers for SMB;
5. IP Telephony ATA/Gateway: VigorTalk ATA 24/Short Haul & Vigor 3300V Plus
After presentations, attendees had time to share their DrayTek experiences with one another. Amongst others heard that day were the success stories of the implementation of Vigor2820n‘s in the networks of Sharjah Water and Electricity (SEWA) and Sharjah Police Academy, demonstrating the capacity and reliability of the unit to support even government agencies.
Feedback received was overwhelmingly positive for DrayTek’s flagship Vigor2820n model for its ‘VPN stability, VLAN, exceptional routing capabilities, high WIFI speeds distinguished the router from competition’. The local System Integrators and resellers also favoured DrayTek products over others for the ‘durability of the routers to with stand high temperatures, having lots of installations in remote desert locations in UAE’, which makes sense.
We found some footage of the Roadshow on YouTube posted by our friends in Dubai of the event, so here they are in action:
Good work DVCom Technology!
